You’ve been working that JCB hard in this sweltering heat, and I can tell your temp gauge is feeling the pressure. Before you overheat during a job, how about sharing your best summer maintenance hack? What’s your secret for keeping the cooling system running smoothly?

I like to park in a way that keeps the sun off the radiator during breaks.
It might sound silly, but it really helps.
I also crack the hood for a few minutes to let the heat out before firing it up again after lunch.

Make sure your coolant mix is right, usually 50/50 is standard, but some places need tweaks. If the mix is off, it can boil faster in extreme heat. Consider upgrading to a higher temp thermostat and using heavy-duty coolant if you're really pushing the machine during the summer.

To keep things running smoothly, I pre-cool the machine in the morning by taking it easy for about 10 minutes before loading it up. Gradually increasing the temperature is a lot easier on the system than jumping straight into heavy work, which helps avoid thermal shock and keeps everything running well throughout the day, especially in the heat.
