JCB maintenance hacks for peak performance

I’m really eager to know how you keep your JCB running at its best. I know that proper maintenance is essential, so I’d love to hear about your routines, the fluids you trust, and any parts or tips that help it last longer and operate more smoothly.

To ensure your JCB lasts, always use OEM filters and hydraulic oil. Change the engine oil every 250 hours and the hydraulic oil once a year. Grease all the pins on a daily basis. If you're in a dusty environment, make it a habit to check the air filter weekly. Keep the cooling fins clean, too! Oh, and don’t overlook the fuel filters, replace them consistently to avoid any injector issues.

Keeping your JCB running smoothly really comes down to simple stuff: Check the fluids regularly, stick to those factory filters, and get the hydraulics serviced when you're supposed to. It makes a big difference.

We have a 1993 2cx and I know it may be slightly different for the older machine but I'm pretty sure the same still applies. If I'm not mistaken ours has a hydrostatic transmission and if it feels like the transmission is sluggish especially when cold the transmission filters usually have to be changed. This is because as the oil heats up it gets thinner and flows though a dirty filer easier although not altogether perfect so definitely for those types of transmissions clean filters is a must!

You're absolutely right. Hydrostatic transmissions really rely on a good flow of clean oil. If things are sluggish when it’s cold, that could mean your filters are blocked or the oil is too thick. It’s wise to change the filters and check that you’re using the right hydraulic oil for your climate. With fresh filters and the correct fluid viscosity, your transmission will perform much better.
