Quick glow plug test for jcb engines

You’re looking at a cold JCB engine, and you’re not sure if the glow plugs are doing their job. What’s your go-to method for testing them without wasting time cranking the engine over and over? Share your tips and save yourself a frustrating morning!

I like to remove the glow plugs and test them with a battery charger. Just connect the terminal to the positive side and ground the body. If they glow red after a few seconds, they’re good to go. No need to involve the engine in this

Before you start cranking, grab a 12V test light to check if the glow plug is getting power. If the light is dim or doesn’t come on at all, there’s likely an issue with the relay or wiring. It’s a simple check that can save you a lot of trouble no more endless cranking.

A quick trick is to unplug the glow plug wire and check the resistance with a multimeter. A healthy glow plug should show low resistance, typically between 0.5 and 1 ohm. If it measures higher, it’s time to replace it and keep your starter safe
