If you’ve been working your JCB all day and start to feel the gears acting up as it heats up, you’re not alone. Let’s share some tips, identify common issues, and go over quick checks you can do in the field to get to the bottom of those frustrating heat-related shifting problems.

It was a scorching afternoon when I was out grading a site, and that’s when I noticed the gears becoming sluggish. A quick look at the hydraulic temp and fluid levels sorted it out pretty quickly. It really makes you realize how much a cooler cab and proper upkeep matter.

My machine started to act up after a long day of trenching. Went through the linkages and fluid levels and it ran smoothly again in no time. Those hot days can really put these machines to the test.

Was digging all morning when my JCB began to hesitate while shifting gears. Did some rapid checks and looked at the oil temps. Simple fixes like topping off fluids and watching the heat can help avoid losing control of your shifts.
