When winter rolls around, you know your tractor is about to face some serious challenges. Whether it’s a little trick to make starting easier, a specific fuel choice, or a maintenance routine that keeps things running smoothly, we all have those cold-weather tractor tips we rely on every winter. What are the go-to tips you swear by?

Last year's first cold snap reminded me just how stubborn my tractor can be. A little anti-gel in the fuel and a warm battery blanket made starting it way simpler.

I used to keep my tractor in a cold shed, and every winter was a fight to get it started. Changing to winter diesel and plugging in the engine heater early made a big difference. Now, it starts up with no drama.

One winter, I didn't watch the weather and left the tractor out in the cold for days. The next day, it barely turned over. Ever since, I always use winter fuel, cycle the glow plugs twice, and keep the battery charged. These habits have saved me lots of headaches each winter.
