Do you really need 4WD?

Been looking into getting a compact tractor and trying to figure out if the extra cost for 4WD is really worth it. Does it make a significant difference in terms of traction and control or is 2WD sufficient for what most people need?

In my opinion it completely depends on what you plan on doing with it. What would your rough plan for it?

I thought the 4WD was a standard. it makes a really big difference in traction, control, and versatility, especially when using a front loader or working in challenging conditions

light yard work and some occasional hauling
it sounds like 2wd would do you just fine. It should easily handle work in grass fields like mowing or hauling. its only when it starts to get damp like cultivating or working during the winter where 4wd is really necessary. as @Guav444 said it also makes a big diffrence when pushing to fill the bucket on a front loader.
