Cold-weather JCB checks

You all must have experienced those chilly mornings when the machine feels a bit stiff, and the day just seems to drag on. Operating a JCB in the cold requires a keen eye on fluids, batteries, hydraulics, and even those small components that might freeze up.

What do you typically inspect before you head out for a winter shift, and what do you make sure to check once the job is wrapped up?

Yeah, when I used to do those early winter shifts, I always checked the battery first thing. Trust me, learned that lesson the hard way after one froze on me and left me stuck.

One morning it was so cold that the hydraulics on my JCB were super sluggish. Ever since then, I make sure to warm it up and check the fluid levels before I start anything. Keeps me from having problems later.

I'll never forget this one super cold job where the fuel turned to gel in the middle of my shift. Had to thaw things out before I could get back to work. Now, I make sure to check the fuel stuff, all the fluids, and let the machine warm up before I start working.

pretty much the same things as everyone else. but one tip from me is about the battery health. Cold weather can sap up to 50% of a battery's capacity. so, check for corrosion on terminals and ensure the voltage is strong before the first crank
