wheels or tracks for my backhoe?

I’d love to ride the machine to jobs it's great in a small twown like mine. although, I also need to plow snow on 4WD trails during the winter
does a wheeled machine with 4WD handle the snow okay, or do I need tracks?
also, has anyone tried those over the tire tracks?
seems like it might be the best of both worlds. thoughts?

I operated a small wheeled loader in my little town for a few years. While 4WD is useful, those winter snow trails can be challenging. I saw someone use over-the-tire tracks they looked a bit odd, but surprisingly, they did the job well, combining the benefits of both wheels and tracks.

A friend of mine used a wheeled 4WD in the snow. It did all right on packed snow, but the fluffy stuff really slowed it down. Tracks are definitely the better option for deep snow, although he found that tires with chains helped a lot.

Last winter, I tried out a wheeled 4WD on some trails.
It worked pretty well on the solid snow, but when I hit soft spots, it got stuck.
Over-the-tire tracks might be the way to go if you need good mobility and grip without having to switch machines.
