Running a larger pump on a JCB 140X?

Figured out a way to fit a larger pump on my JCB 140X while working on it. For me the machine has always been solid, but there are times when it feels like the hydraulics could deliver more, especially when I'm pushing heavier attachments. Anyway, I managed to get the bigger pump mounted and lined up, and the difference is already noticeable. My only hesitation now is how the rest of the system will hold up as time goes on
I dont know, will the added flow or pressure end up overworking the lines, valves, or cooling, or can the 140X handle it without major issues?

you know that the whole hydraulic system on that machine was designed and rated for a specific flow and pressure. It's a closed loop system, and you've just increased the volume of fluid moving through it
bcs of this, overheating is the most immediate risk. More flow means more friction, and more friction means more heat. You could end up with degraded hydraulic fluid, blown seals, and premature component failure
 
If you sized the pump correctly (matching the rest of the system), you should get gains. But expect to upgrade or monitor these: hose sizes, check valves, cooler, reservoir capacity, filters, and porting. Also, make sure suction lines and plumbing are overbuilt so you don't starve the pump. Do that, and you might have a beast.
 
It's also worth thinking about system harmonics, when flow rates increase, they can cause pressure spikes and oscillations that put a strain on valve spools and seals. To help smooth out those transient loads, you might want to consider adding an accumulator or a dampener.
 
upgrading a hydraulic pump on an excavator huh? that's actually a bold move! The biggest immediate risk isn't flow, it's pressure.
Did you make sure to check and reset the main relief valve? If the new pump can generate more pressure than the system is rated for (hoses, cylinders, seals), you're looking at a blown hose or a catastrophic failure, not just better performance
