A colleague has a JCB 3 Mk 2 and we are trying to find the original registration number We have the Serial Number etc but would be grateful for any help

You can try contacting the DVLA or checking with JCB directly. Local dealers or old logbooks could help too if the machine's stayed nearby.

I ran into the same issue with an old JCB backhoe we were restoring. If you've got the serial number, @Minute-Abalone41 is right, try reaching out to the DVLA or local registration office

Does your colleague know the previous owner or insurance company? They might have the reg details.

Well, unlike a car, which has a VIN that can be tracked through a national database, construction equipment often doesn't have that same history, unfotuately. Remember, serial number itself does not contain the registration number. The two are separate identifiers. The serial number is a permanent part of the machine, while the registration number is an administrative identifier tied to a specific country's road authority.
