Yep, that's normal for your temp sensor. It sounds like you've got a Negative Temperature Coefficient thermistor, which is what most coolant temp sensors use.

Yep, that’s normal for the sensor, it should drop resistance as it warms. If the gauge is still dead flat, the issue is likely in the wiring, connector, or the gauge itself rather than the sensor
