I usually kick things off by checking all the hoses and fittings. I learned that the hard way after spending hours tracking down a leak, and it ended up being just a tiny crack in one of the lines. Now, that's the first thing I do it's fast and a lot of times keeps me from having to dig into bigger stuff.

I'd take a look at the cylinder seals. Had one where the bucket kept drooping, and it turned out the seal was just worn out. Ever since, I give the seals a close look whenever something doesn’t feel right. It’s a simple check that can point you right to what's wrong.
