That one crazy winter really taught me a lesson, don't jump right into heavy lifting when the hydraulics are stone cold. You'll end up with stiff seals and cylinders that barely move. Now, I always let the machine warm up a bit, gently test the controls, and try to keep the hoses out of the wind. Doing those few things has saved me a ton of trouble in the middle of winter
