Hello all, thanks for allowing me to be a part of this forum. I just recently purchased a 2006 JCB 3C 14ft back hoe. There were only really two issues with the machine ulon purchase. Battery issue which hasn’t anything to fix. It’s either just a bad battery or a bad or a bad connection but the other issues is a little bit different. My backhoe is stuck in four-wheel-drive. The four-wheel-drive button lights up but when I click it. I don’t hear it click or anything. It seems to me at the solenoids not engaging so as of now I’m thinking locate the solenoid unplug it, put my voltage meter on the flood side that feeds the powerand then press the button for four-wheel-drive and see if I get a reading or not. If I don’t get a reading, then it’s wiring or button related. If I do get a reading, then I think it’s safe to assume that i need to focus my attention on the solenoid. Does anybody out there have a similar model to this backhoe and has anyone experienced an issue similar to this? hydraulics are strong everything’s tight.

Glad you're here! It looks like you’ve done a good job troubleshooting so far, and that 3C is a solid machine. You've come to the right place—plenty of people here have dealt with 4WD issues and can help you figure it out.

Welcome! That backhoe is a great choice, and it's clear you’re already thinking through the issue like a pro. The 4WD solenoid can act up, so you’ll find folks here who’ve been through the same thing and can share their solutions.
