New Holland or JCB 214 for my first backhoe?

I am hunting for my first backhoe in the $10k–$20k range and could use some veteran insight. I have experience with skid steers and tractors, but owning a backhoe is a new frontier for me. My priority list for features includes an extendahoe, 4x4 capability, a 4 in 1 bucket, and a thumb
currently, I am weighing two distinct options. the first is an older New Holland that was stored indoors and looks pristine, but lacks a thumb. The second is the JCB 214. they are often more affordable, but my friends warned me about the parts availability for used and new components

I’m struggling to decide whether to prioritize a well preserved older machine or a newer model with fewer features. if you have experience with JCB parts availability or advice on whether I should hold out for a Case 580 despite the higher hours typical of my budget, I would appreciate your advice and tips

Here’s my take, an older model in good condition often outperforms a cheaper, newer one that has its quirks, especially if it’s your first backhoe. Sure, you can add thumbs and other features later, but having a solid frame, good hydraulics, and 4x4 will save you more headaches than any price tag will.

I've been in a similar spot myself a few years back, I chose a Case 580 even with higher hours. Why? Because of the availability of parts, the community support, and better resale value. JCBs are solid machines, but hunting for specific used parts can turn what should be a weekend project into a long, drawn-out affair.
